Ahhhh....Saturday

Saturday.
I love Saturdays. 
Especially the ones when I don't have to work.
Especially the ones with sunshine.

And I especially love the Saturday before the day that I spend with Lu Summers [designer of Summersville fabrics] at a printmaking workshop with some of the other London Modern Quilt Guild people :)  Yay - I can't wait for tomorrow!  I've got all my fabric pieces washed (still need to iron them) and I have gathered the bits and pieces that I need to bring.  I'm ready and I can't wait for tomorrow!!   

Yay for Saturday!  I finished my Shirt Bunny today.  Started him quite late last night so today all I had to do was stitch his arms in place and add his eyes and nose.  This was from a Martha Stewart pattern (a freebie) and was very easy to do.  I up-cycled parts of two men's dress shirts and think he turned out pretty darn cute.  Bad photo though - his ears are actually longer than they look in the picture and it's those ears that make him especially lovable!  I love his wonky arms too!!  I can happily cross him off my Small Project Sew Along list.

I cut the grass and did the weeding today as well.  I thought I had better take advantage of the unusual dry weather and sunshine in case it doesn't last!  Before that I even managed to squeeze in a drive up to Hemel Hempstead to go to "Patchwork Corner" to get one or two more green fabrics.  This is in preparation for the Wonky Log Cabin class with Quilt Dad at the Fat Quarterly Retreat in a few weeks time.  I decided I had better start gathering everything I need to bring to the retreat to see what I still need to get.  Good thing too because I managed to get a much needed bit of haberdashery for the scissor lanyard I wanted to make for the Small Projects Sew Along with crazy mom quilts.  I finished it tonight so that's another item crossed off my Small Projects list.

When I got in from work last night I was in the mood to sew.  I was feeling like a little improv and I whipped up my Zakka Mug Rug but instead of a rain cloud (I've seen too many recently) I decided to go with a big sun, green grass and a happy home.  It makes me smile anyways, even though it isn't what was in the book!  I just need to hand stitch the binding on the back and it is done - yay!  I'll be linking this one to QED on the 15th.
