As you can see from my Wednesdays WiP post, I managed to get quite a bit done over the past week [I'll add a similar photo at the bottom of this post]! Yay for me. My highlight had to be getting the Zakka house pouch done in two nights when I hadn't even planned to make it. I'm so pleased that I did though as I can now say I'm no longer a zipper-virgin! I received lots of lovely (and encouraging) comments and feedback from some really wonderful people - so thank you for taking the time to comment. I needed these little 'comment hugs' to keep my spirits up!
Zakka Pencil Case - Project 5 |
I have a couple more finishes to share on top of the ones reported on Wednesday. I'm happy to say that I completed (ahead of schedule) my Zakka Pencil Case. I LOVE this! Again, the instructions needed more diagrams but after a little bit of seam ripping and asking Mr Crafty Shenanigans to see what he thought the instructions meant, I ended up with a pretty cool pencil case. I used some of my favourite scraps (dragonfly, stripes, checks and some plaid - oh how I love plaid!!) and I think it turned out marvellous! I will definitely make more of these for my niece and nephews in Canada!
Here is nosey-parker Jax checking out what these 'things' are in HIS garden! Zakka Pin Cushion and Zakka Pencil Case of course! |
The interior was a piece of fabric from the 'scrap swap' at the London Modern Quilt Guild. The numbers on the fabric seemed appropriate for a pencil case! |
Sew Into Solids Block 3 and 5 together - DONE |
HST 'thing' for the Festival of Half Square Triangles - will it get done? |
And that's all I can report on. I'll also be linking up with Amylouwho's Sew & Tell Friday, sew many ways' Find a Friend Friday and our creative spaces player list and Sew Happy Geek's Manic Monday. Have a great weekend!
I'll also be linking my finish up here:

You always seem so busy! Loving all the things you've been making! =D
I LOVE BUSY!! I am VERY fortunate to live walking distance to work so I walk home for lunch and get odd jobs done during my hour so my evenings are my own to daydream, sew and move fabric from pile to pile, drooling! I tape the tv programs I follow so I can watch them in x12 and skip all adverts in the mornings while I get ready for work and I blog-hop in between doing everything else throughout the day/night. I was always told that if you want something done, ask a busy person - so I seem to get a lot done :) I'm quite an organised, goal-orientated person who likes to 'achieve'. That's me in a nut-shell! ;)
Everything looks great. I've been sewing with solids this week as well.
cute pencil cases....original too!! thanks for checking our my blog!!
you have had a busy week! That pencil case is lovely :-D
Thanks for sharing your progress. The pencil case is very cute. Isn't funny how it sometimes 'hurts' to use of the last scrap of a favorite fabric?
Oh yes - it hurst to use the dragonflies as I only ever had a fat quarter of it and most of it went into my shaggy quilt. I am carfully using the last scraps.
I love your HST thingy. I think I will use yours as inspiration so I can over come my fear of HSTs.
I love, love, love that pencil case!!!
Cheers :) You stole the words straight from my mouth!!! [I love it too! hahaha]
Sorry - my typing was rubbish!! Should say 'hurts' and 'carefully'.
I love your new solids block. It is a very effective pattern.
I'm so thrilled to hear how the Sew into Solids group is keeping you motivated to try new things ...that is exactly why Katherine and I started the group :-)
Awesome! So excited to see your progress with the blocks for Sew into Solids. Seeing your blocks inspires me, Amy. Keep up the great work.
Lovely take on this sweet project! You're lucky Jax didn't mark your projects as his own ;) I have a weiner dog mix, and he, too, would assume that the projects were his own. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous pencil case!
Just came to see your pencil case, which is so cute! All the other projects you've finished are just as great!
That is such a cute little pencil case! And I love your Sew Into Solids blocks as well. Your colors are beautiful!
Congrats again on such a fun finish and thank you for linking up!
