I love the lemon cake that comes in a box (like Sara Lee) and the corresponding lemon icing. I actually tried to make a version from scratch once but it didn't come out nearly as well as the packaged version.
Cake in a cup! Literally you can have cake in 5 minutes - which actually is not a good thing for me haha. I end up making a cake in a cup almost every night because it's so easy! 1/2 C ea flour and sugar
4 eggs
1 C milk
pinch salt, dash liqueur or vanilla
mix and pour over fresh fruit (I'm partial to apricots or cherries) in buttered dish, bake at 400 until puffed and golden.
I'm allergic to chocolate so that rules out many desserts. I do love a good lemon tart and if it has a creme brulee crispy sugary top, even better.

I love the store cupboard cake from Domestic Goddess by Nigella. It is a fruit chocolate cake, I always used cherry jam in it. My kids insist on it too for their birthdays.

I love the canoli pie from the bakery near my house. yes, I even use it as a birthday "cake".
I personally am not very picky about cake, but we usually make my husband's favorite, chocolate carrot cake. It tastes like chocolate cake, not carrot and is so delicious! (If that sounds up your alley e-mail you and I'll send you the recipe, but I don't want to clog up your comments with a big long recipe if that's not even the type of thing you'd like!)

My favourite is something called a Chocolate Mocha cake. I have it for my birthday every year, and I love it. I'm afraid I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it's more or less a normal chocolate cake with half a cup of coffee in it, stuck together with chocolate buttercream.

I'm not sure I can legally include the recipe in a public forum... So I'll let you know that my favorite of all favorite cakes is the Bavarian Torte version of the Two-Egg Chocolate Chiffon Cake on page 109 of the Betty Crocker's Cookbook from the 70's. The piechart or pie cover. I love it so much I would marry it. Maybe. But it has layers and layers of light chiffon chocolate cake with this most delicious cream cheese vanilla brown sugar whipped cream filling. You shave bittersweet/dark chocolate over the filling before putting the next layer on. Oh man, now I want some.
