Magazine launch and giveaway!

My yummy fabric purchases at the launch
I went to the All Craft Media launch of "Modern Quilting" (a new quilting magazine) at Ray-Stitch in London on Friday night - how cool is that?  I ate cupcakes and met the editor Vick Guthrie and designer Janet Clare, and chatted with a few of the other girls from the London Modern Quilt Guild who also attended.

The reason I am so excited is that our picture (of the newly formed LMQG taken after our 1st meeting) is on page 4 and again on 111.  I know it is just a small photo, duplicated twice and my name isn't listed, but how cool is that anyways!!?  We got a 'goodie bag' for attending the launch which contained the new magazine, a block viewer and a magazine called "Sew Hip".  I also purchased a few bits of fabric, a swatch set of the Klona (not Kona) fabrics and a water soluable pen as Ray-Stitch offered those attending a 25% discount!  The magazine is on shelves on 28 February 2012.  The Sewing Directory has an offer on subscriptions here or you can purchase it at select retailers.

I have subscribed so this means I have a spare copy!  To enter to win my spare copy of the first issue of Modern Quilting, please leave a comment here telling me why you'd like to win it.  For a second entry, blog about my giveaway on your blog and link back here, and for a third entry, simply follow my blog and let me know here in a comment.  Draw will close on 29 February and I will announce the winner on 1 March.  Good luck!

Woo. I'm the first to comment.
I would love to win the magazine. We live in a small town and our little bookstore doesn't get many magazines. I am really curious about what a Modern Quilting magazine would have inside.

I'm always interested to see new magazines, but even though our WH Smith is one of the most profitable in the British Isles, we don't get to see the new magazines very quickly.

I'd love to win the magazine. I just returned to quilting after a nearly 3 year hiatus due to medical issues. I'm amazed at all the changes in that time and feel like a whole new world has opened up.

This looks a great magazine! Hopefully it's just what we've been waiting for in the UK - other magazines available here are rather boring and old fashioned!

I love quilting magazines but don't take the plunge to buy them much! I'd love to try out this new one!

I'd love to win a copy, I struggle to get english patchwork mags here in France and postage from the UK of a magazine makes them very expensive...looks like a breath of fresh air for a mag :)

I am a quilter who lives in a small town in southeast Missouri, USA. There is no way our
bookstore would have a quilting book from
England. I would like to win it! Thanks for
the opportunity!

This mag looks fabulous! i tried to order it but $50 was too much of an investment without seeing it at least once. If i win and i like the issue, I'm all for a subscription!

Hello and congratulations on winning! I've tried to contact you but I am unable to send you a message or leave a comment on your blog. Feel free to contact me asap so I can get this magazine to you :) Cheers!

Wow, that is awesome you got to meet the editor and see the magazine in person! I too can't see spending the $50 USD on the magazine that I haven't seen - but I have only heard great things about it! I was in London last summer and only had the opportunity to nibble at the wonderful fabric stores in the city.
