I totally veered off plan of what the book showed (a cloud with rain) because, frankly, I've seen enough rain this past month to last a lifetime! Despite there being a 'drought' and 'hosepipe ban', it is all wet and soggy in this part of London and I just couldn't bear to make a cute rain cloud! I might decide to make it another day, but not this week!! Not until there is some proper sunshine!
As you can see, I did a huge applique sun with emanating rays and an applique house with a nice blue door and bead for a door knob. There is a second floor window too which was appliqued as well. I hand stitched the three flowers using some embroidery floss and like how they turned out - very happy anyways!
Tomorrow is the 15th of the month so I will enter this into Color Me Quilty's Quilty Embellishment Day! I have crossed this off my Small Projects Sew Along with crazy mom quilts too ...and joined in with Such a Sew and Sew's Stitch in Time May 2012 Finishes linky party :)
And of course I'll also be linking up with Sew Happy Geek and her Manic Monday linky and The NY Melrose Family Whimsy Wednesdays.
so cute - love that sunshine
ReplyDeleteI am glad you went against the rain. I have had enough rain also. I love soggy sunshine.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute! Sometimes it's better to veer off from the book design! =D
ReplyDeleteLove it... Such a happy little rug!
ReplyDeleteLove this take! Fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteLove it - it's about time some sun shined here ;-)
ReplyDeleteI Agree! Here in Sweden we are having winter all over again, although today's quite sunny. the trees barely have buds, and there hasn't been any lawn mowing yet. Worse than a grey sky, the cursed white sky of ________. I have no words for it, but I planned on sprucing up my rain cloud too, especially since my hobby machine has no darner foot that I can see. I have the blue linen ready to re-purpose though. Love your mug rug!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mug rug. So much better to wake up to sunshine! Thank you so much for linking up for QED!
ReplyDeleteI agree...sunshine is best! It's the best way to start a day. I especially love the little house.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely. And I quite agree - too much rain in the South East - but oh, last weekend was like your rug mug - stunning.
ReplyDeleteLove your mug rug and I couldn't agree more - we have plenty enough clouds and rain without quilting about it!
ReplyDeleteDarling - don't blame you for avoiding the rain!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little mug rug! I especially love the sun with the rays swirling out from it. And how about a swap? I'll send you some of the excess sunshine we have here (it is SO dry) and you send some of the extra rain? Again, great job and thank you for linkin gup!
