Yesterday I went to our monthly London Modern Quilt Guild meeting at Tricolette Yarns in St Johns Wood. I love this gaggle of people - so much energy and creativity, enthusiasm and spirit! We are a talented bunch of people, let me tell you! The most popular part of the meeting is always Show & Tell. This month we shared projects we are working on or recently finished (lots of great bags and quilts shown) and the highlight was our Mini Quilts for the 'show' being hung at the Oxford Street John Lewis in June. Stay tuned for more information on that! We also had a haberdashery swap and it was fun to see what we got in exchange. I got a jar of goodies - awesome goodies!! Thanks to everyone for participating and sharing their projects.
Follow your nose: Jax checking out my jam jar of haberdashery goodies. He approves! |
Giveaway:
In case you love a giveaway (who doesn't!!), there is an amazing bundle of fabrics being given away from Glenroy Fabrics of seven Laura Gunn fat quarters over on the LMQG blog - so be sure to press HERE to go to our site to enter! Good luck!
Zakka:
I came home from the meeting inspired so decided to get started on my Zakka Itty Bitty Magnets. And itty bitty they are! I used three strands of embroidery floss on these but will use six on the next few as it will show up better. Also, I will use stronger magnets! Just need to stitch these ones closed...and make two more so I can link them up to the Zakka Style Sew-Along linky.
WARNING - these are addictive!! |
Everywhere I turn there seems to be more exciting stuff being planned. My May to-do list keeps growing!! Now I want to add "Summer Sewing Contest" at Ellison Lane Quilts to my list. I'm not sure what to enter so will have to give that some more thought. And I want to add Crazy Mom Quilts "Small Projects Sew Along" too [my list to follow in a separate post!]! Busy busy busy. Thank goodness it keeps raining or I wouldn't get anything done ;)
Date for your diary:
If you haven't seen my Siblings Together quilt top using Savanna Bop fabrics, press here, and put in your diary that Thomas Knauer will be visiting Tricolette on the 7th June at 4pm. [EDIT - 7th JULY is the correct date]. He designed and donated the fabrics that I used in the quilt I made! [I won them from Lily's Quilts] Savanna Bop is very colourful and fun so how cool is that to be able to meet the designer!? I will have to get half a day off work so I can get in and perhaps show him the quilt (I'll have to have it finished, of course) that I made with his fabrics!! Exciting stuff!
Solids:
Here is my 'Week 6 Block' for the Sew into Solids Flickr group. We are now in Week 9 so it looks as though I am a little bit behind! I made a Wonky Log Cabin using some of the scraps generated from the other blocks. Looks strange amongst the other blocks which are straight, square and formal. May have to try curves next just to keep the variety flowing...
Here is the Wonky Log Cabin - Block 6 for Sew into Solids. |
Here are the four blocks with similar colours together. The other two blocks are red, orange, purple and navy. |
And that's about it I think! Today I will be linking up with Sew Many Ways' Sew Darn Crafty linky party, Sew Happy Geek's Manic Monday, Quilt Story's Fabric Tuesday and Canoe Ridge Creations {sew} Modern Monday.
LOVE your wonky cabin - it's really cool
