Yay for Mondays - I love Mondays, especially when it is my BIRTHDAY!! I bet you love Mondays too, especially when it is GIVEAWAY DAY!! THE PRIZE:
The category I have chosen is the Sewing/Craft Supplies. I have put together a little kit/bundle of things that you can hopefully make into a fun project: one solid Kona fat quarter, one bright/fun/cheery floral print fat quarter and some 'haberdashery' - a brooch pin, some co-ordinating buttons, two co-ordinating Anchor floss thread, three pieces of co-ordinating ribbon, three paperclips shaped like hangers (how cool is that?!), a 'handmade with love' metal tag and a clip key chain ring thing.
This is an easy giveaway to enter - no hoops! You don't even need to be a follower (though that would be a really nice birthday present for me if you did) so all you have to do to enter my Giveaway Day ~ Happy Birthday Giveaway is:

ReplyDeleteI love the lemon cake that comes in a box (like Sara Lee) and the corresponding lemon icing. I actually tried to make a version from scratch once but it didn't come out nearly as well as the packaged version.

4 eggs
1 C milk
pinch salt, dash liqueur or vanilla
mix and pour over fresh fruit (I'm partial to apricots or cherries) in buttered dish, bake at 400 until puffed and golden.
I'm allergic to chocolate so that rules out many desserts. I do love a good lemon tart and if it has a creme brulee crispy sugary top, even better.

ReplyDeleteMy favourite is something called a Chocolate Mocha cake. I have it for my birthday every year, and I love it. I'm afraid I can't remember it off the top of my head, but it's more or less a normal chocolate cake with half a cup of coffee in it, stuck together with chocolate buttercream.

So I'll let you know that my favorite of all favorite cakes is the Bavarian Torte version of the Two-Egg Chocolate Chiffon Cake on page 109 of the Betty Crocker's Cookbook from the 70's. The piechart or pie cover. I love it so much I would marry it. Maybe. But it has layers and layers of light chiffon chocolate cake with this most delicious cream cheese vanilla brown sugar whipped cream filling. You shave bittersweet/dark chocolate over the filling before putting the next layer on. Oh man, now I want some.

ReplyDeleteI have allergies to dairy and sugar which limits my cake options. My current favourite recipe the is gingerbread from The Voluptuous Vegan. Even non-vegans find it tasty.

It's a real toss up between just an indulgent chocolate cake or a mango mousse cake from a specialty bakery I love. I wish I could combine them both, because I'm sure it would be awesome.
